The potential to buy Bulgarian buses is considered- The payment back by agricultural products is accepted
A team of Bulgarian experts is expected to arrive in Athens for discussions with Greek experts about the supply of city buses to Greece, according to relevant sources.
From the same sources, the Bulgarian side is interested to directly supply the MAN-engined (under licence), 3 door, 11m city buses, with body by Setra of W. Germany.
These buses will be built in Bulgaria.
Since the above mentioned buses will be bought from Greece, Bulgaria is willing, according to information, to accept their payment with Greek agricultural products, such as tobacco, cotton, olive oils, citrus etc., or even buying Greek built buses for the Bulgarian Tourist Organization (Balkan Tourist).
The tourist buses will be built by Damco Autoimbex Hellas S.A, who is the exclusive representative of the Bulgarian truck and bus builder Balkancar. The Greek participation, according to calculations, reaches 60% of the total bus value for the body, and the air-conditioning system, which will be installed in Greece.
The subject of the city bus supply to Greece was discussed, according to our information, during the 7th committee of the Greek-Bulgarian Interministerial Committee, which took place about 2 weeks ago in Sofia, but also during the short visit of the vice president of Bulgaria, Mr. Lucanoff.
As it is known, the Bulgarian official, who came to Athens on his way back from Libya, had a short meeting with the Minister of Merchant, Mr. Panagiotopoulos,
Bulgaria, who expresses the wish to supply Greece with city buses, is also interested for the development of industrial co-operation for city buses with our country.
The number of the city buses that the Bulgarian side suggests is not appointed, but will vary between 200-300 vehicles.
