New Hess trolleybuses for Arnhem

Some pictures of the 9 new Hess trolleybuses, build for Arnhem. They will replace most of the Volvo trolleys from 1990, of which I've also attached a picture. These Volvo's are already for sale. The Hess trolleys will be taken officialy in service on december 13th. Then most Volvo's will also be withdrawn. More pictures of these and other buses on my site http://www.hugofoto.fotopic.net.

Hi Hugo Buss, thank-you for posting the information for the new trolleybuses of Arnhem. I don't know a lot about the producer, but they look very good. I really like them.

I have a question. That I am interested in is the funding of the trolleys. Which resource have they been bought with? Only the municipality participates in the funding, or there is also an EU subsidy, because trolleys are Eco-friendly vehicles.

This kind of funding (with EU support) of new electro-vehicles is more and more used by the politicians in Bulgaria, but there is still not single vehicle delivered on that way.

The producer is not well known. It's a rather small Suiss company. But quality seems to be good. I don't know it exactly to be honest, but I think you're correct and so I guess that these buses are partly bought with subsidy from Dutch policy or European fundings. But once again, I'm, unfortunately, not sure.

Hess isn't so small producer. They are the biggest Swiss company and nowadays have enormous purchases for new trolleybuses in Swizerland. They also own the famous Cobus firm for airport buses. They produced the first double-articulated tbus in the world (and the longest-24m). Last year they made the first foreign delivery for Germany and now I'm surprised about the Dutch delivery. I have seen their list of purchases and their schedule is fullfilled for a long period of time.
