Questions about Varna, Ruse and Burgas
« on: 10.08.2010, 18:12:55 »
Hello,
I will visit Bulgaria in september. In Riviera hotel (Golden Sands).

Which is the best bus Riviera hotel-Varna train station? Cost of ticket? Ticket sell in bus?

In Varna, Burgas, Dobrich, Sliven and Ruse city which is the cost of the ticket in the town? Does exist "one day ticket" for all buses and trolleybus lines? The tickets are available from the bus?

In Varna the trolleybus route 88 is not in service?

Thanks!

The bus that goes from Varna rail station directly to Golden Sands are 9 and 109.Those buses do not enter in the inside of the resort complex - they go only to its entry. You can use them from the  first to the last station and then enter the resort walking - you will certainly find your hotel - it is on the beach alley ;) Buses pass on interval of 30 minutes together (60 minutes each line) and stop on the bus stop not just in front of the station but the one on the opposite side of the street. If you want a bus going inside the resort you must take bus 409 express (you can distinguish from normal 409 by the colour of the number which is red).Unfortunately this bus doesn't go to the station and you must take other bus to make correspondance (I can not help you with the number of the line that you take because I'm not from Varna I also went to Golden Sands in June and had to discover all of this by myself).Anyway 9 and 109 are better option I think.

Tickets cost 3 BGN (1.5€) а person but if you bring big cases you will be asked to pay 1 BGN for each one (0.5 €).Tickets are sold by a woman in the bus.If you are more people it's better to take taxi from the station that will pick you up in front of the hotel it will cost you approximatively 20 BGN (10 €).As far as I  know there is no possibility to take one day ticket for all the lines in anyone of the cities you mentioned:(

Trolley line 88 is still in service in Varna as 82 and 83 :)

Wish you a nice trip and sunny weather, water's temperature now is 30-31 degrees  8)

I guess you want to visit Kazanlak becouse of their trolleybus network?
You must know, that the trolleybus transport was closed there before more than 10 years. Now just the network is remembering the times when there have to be seen trolleys. The trolley depot isn't existing any more too.

In Kazanlak there were corrumpere scheme of city council to close the network and start a bus operation on the same service lines by a local transport company.
In Veliko Tarnovo the trolleys were in service till the last year when the government had started a reconstruction of the main road that connects the capital city Sofia with Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Stara Zagora, Rousse. The trolley network isnt planned throw the junction - now there are different projects to restore the network throw the near-by streets, but the work isn't started yet - so the trolleys are closed in Tarnovo too. I hope not at all - just until the new network is planned and mounted (may be - next year).

All of the trolleys in Veliko Turnovo are discarded to scrap. A new junction - Kachitsa was build which is improper for trolleys. A bypass around Kachitsa is considered, but the probability to be realized is poor.

In Gabrovo ZiU's are still in service. Here is a gallery for Gabrovo trolls: http://optgabrovo.sosugary.com/index.php?cat=5

In Rouse the ticket cost 0.90 lv or nearly 0.45 euro.
From train and bus station to center is not transport, but you can to get bus number 11 from Borisova str. to center.Trolley bus number 25 go nearly to center .The Station of 11 and 25  is in 100 m. away in train station.
