Trip to Plovdiv 19.8-21.8.2015
(1/1)
ZiU-fan_FIN:
Hello, I am going to visit Plovdiv from 19.8-21.8.2015. I would like to ask following questions:
What kind of buses are there in service at this time in local traffic, anything interesting?
Where to buy tickets, you have 24hour/48hour passes etc?
Bus from Plovdiv-Sofia in 21.8. morning? From where it starts, time, place, and where buy tickets?
To which place does the bus from Burgas arrive in 19.8?
Thank you!

Hello.
You are picking up very good days to spot busses in Plovdiv. The 19th, 20th and 21st of August is going to be work days, so close to all of the busses in service will be on their routes. You can spot a big ammount of Mercedes O405, O405N and O405N2. Also we have several MAN's NL 263 and a few other variants of the model. A large number of our public transport is overtaken by two of Isuzu's models - The NOVOciti and the CITYBUS. All in all, if you get to the right spot, you can see interesting stuff. If I'm free, I can make you a little tour for a day or two if you'd like.
You can take a look of our busses here: http://forum.gtsofia.info/index.php?topic=3099.1100
Choose between pages.
We don't have e-tickets in the busses yet, so for now, tickets are bought from inside the bus from a conductor.
The bus from Burgas arrives at Bus Station South. You can take a bus from Plovdiv to Sofia from the same place, Bus Station South. You can choose between these hours:
Plovdiv - Sofia
06.00; 06.30; 07.30; 08.30; 09.00; 09.30; 10.30; 11.30; 12.30; 13.00; 13.30; 14.00; 15.00; 16.00 17.00; 18.00; 19.00; 20.00
Have a nice day.

Hello, thank you for your reply! It was very helpful! :)
If you have time, it could be nice maybe to show some places you like and exchange information about transport in this region, I must check if my friend from Budapest if he is coming with me. If you want to know more about Budapest or Ikaruses in Hungary, then I can give his details and information exchange - and if you are in Budapest he can show you around. I live in Helsinki,Finland, our citybuses can be seen here: http://www.kuukankorpi.com/paikallisliikenne/bussit.html These are name companies, and the list is updated. In end of summer many Ikarus EAG buses will be rejected.
Do you know something about this place "Stara Zagora". From Plovdiv maybe it's possible to go there for 1 day? And then this other day in Plovdiv? I just got interested if there are still old Skodas and ZiU:s.

Hello again.
I live and work in Plovdiv. No time soon will I visit Bucharest, but I will have that in mind when time comes eventually. I am free for a few hours on the 19th of August and the entire two days on 20th and 21st of August and I can give you a little tour around whenever you like.
Stara Zagora is a town approx. 100km east of Plovdiv. It's easily accessible by train and it's rather cheap non the less (best choice for transportation to that destination for me though). Last time I went there, that was somewhere around mid November of 2014, the were a lot of Skoda Solaris 26 Tr's and a few remaining Ziu's and Skoda 14 Tr's, quite the number of Mercedes-Benz O405's and Kassbohrer Setra 200 series's. We can go there if you'd like.
In Plovdiv, we don't have any form of electric transport, but the old power grid still remains. There are, now former and abandoned, Surer GT560 and VanHool AG280T trolleys finding rest in and old depot in the northeren part of the city. There is also an abandoned Skoda 14Tr in another depot, this time in the eastern end of the city. Near it, there is now another Skoda 14Tr that is meant to be a driving lesson's trolley. It was brought here from Pazardjik, as far as I know, in exchange for our Skoda 9Tr.
Last time I forgot to mention that we have quite the number of VDL Berkhof Ambassador 200, lots of IVECO's Irisbus Citelis 12M CNG, Temsa's Metropol and MD9 LE model, a few Mercedes-Benz Citaro's and MAN SL283's. There is also a large number of Kassbohrer Setra 200 and 300 series's that service intercity routes. Occasionally there could be spotted other different models from the Mercedes-Benz, VDL, Vanhool, MAN, Neoplan brands also servicing intercity routes.
Kind regards!
